Axel's Therapist: A Secret Baby Sports Romance (Blitz Book 2) Page 9

  Kaitlyn

My stomach wouldn't stop churning. It felt like a kaleidoscope of butterflies was flapping its way through my bowels. I pulled my car over to the side of the road and got out, taking deep breaths. The last thing I needed was to puke all over myself on the way to Axel's place. I'd probably get into an accident, too. Then I'd be covered in vomit and my car would be trashed. With my luck, the guy I hit would probably sue me.

I took deep breaths until the nausea passed, and I actually managed not to puke. Even if I was pregnant, was this much nausea normal? It seemed like I was sick all the time. Stress only made it worse.

I didn't have anyone to ask about these things. None of my friends back home had kids yet, and I didn't have any sisters. "I've gotta figure this out," I murmured to myself. If I wasn't pregnant, then I definitely had to see a doctor because something wasn't right.

A cop passed by, slowing his car and pulling up ahead of me on the curb. "You alright?" he called, getting out. I looked up, embarrassed. Embarrassment swiftly turned to anger.

"Ethan!" I cried, startled to see him. "Are you following me?"

Ethan froze as recognition sunk in. His eyes widened. Another man in a dark blue uniform came up beside him. I assumed it was his partner. The guy was strikingly handsome. A sexy black officer with smooth skin and muscles popping out in every direction. He stopped and looked at me.

"Kaitlyn?" Ethan asked. He looked confused.

"Yes, of course it's me," I spat, annoyed.

Ethan's partner turned to him, grinning. "Is this the woman you keep telling me about? The one who stood you up for dinner?"

Ethan's cheeks turned a bright pink. He nodded.

"You're talking to people about me?" I asked. "And I didn't stand you up! I canceled! There's a difference."

  "Which is?"

I could feel my emotions rising and tried to think of some way to quickly change the subject. I didn't need him knowing I'd only invited him to dinner last time we'd talked just to make Axel jealous. "Are you following me?" I didn't really think Ethan was following me, but it was as good a distraction as any.

"What? No! Of course not." His face turned from concern to agitation. "I was driving past and saw you on the side of the road. Sorry for checking to see if you needed help." It was the first time since seeing him in Denver that he sounded like a normal person and not just someone trying to get into my pants.

"Well, I don't need help. I'm fine. I just... I thought I had a flat. But it's fine now. See?" I kicked my tire to illustrate just how fine everything was.

Ethan shrugged and turned around. "Fine. I'm glad you're okay."

His partner lingered for a second, watching me. He waited until Ethan was back in the car before saying anything. "You know, you've got him all wrong."

"Yeah?" I asked, annoyed. "What do you know about it?"

"More than you," he said. Something about his expression got me curious, but then he turned and followed Ethan back to the car.

My anger faded. It was hard to hold on to it when Ethan looked so pathetic. Besides Axel, Ethan was the only other person in town that I knew. All the crap that had happened between us had been in high school, for God's sake. Maybe it was time I actually let that shit go. "Ethan, wait," I said, taking a step toward him, but he was already pulling away.

My stomach clenched again, and I leaned over and threw up. I'd have to consider the Ethan situation later. Right now, I had to figure out what was going on with me. The drug store wasn't far. I pulled into a parking spot and practically flew into the drug store. I was shocked to see how much pregnancy tests cost and decided that two were probably sufficient.

At home, I changed out of my clothes and opened the first box. "Hold the stick in the urine stream," I muttered. "Ew. Gross." What if I peed on my hand? It wasn't like I didn't know how a pregnancy test worked, but somehow, I'd thought that they'd come with a little cup or something to pee into. I searched my apartment for something acceptable and finally came up with a Dixie cup.

  "Better than nothing."

I sat on the toilet, praying for the minus sign, but nothing happened. I couldn't pee. "Oh, for crying out loud." I tried squeezing my bladder, but to no avail. "Shit!" I pulled my pants back up and set the Dixie cup aside.

I had plenty of water in the fridge and downed two bottles in about two minutes. I walked around my apartment doing jumping jacks, hoping it would stir things up in there and get them moving faster. Finally, I felt the familiar pressure on my bladder. I ran back to the bathroom and tried again. This time, I had success.

I filled up my Dixie cup and stuck the tip of the pregnancy test inside, holding it there for only a second. The directions had been very specific about not flooding the test with too much pee. Almost instantly, a plus sign appeared.

"Fuck!" I screamed. I reread the directions. It said it was supposed to take three minutes. It hadn't even been one. "Maybe it's just not ready. I should wait."

I left the stick sitting on the counter and grabbed the second test. I downed another bottle of water and refilled my Dixie cup with fresh urine. I figured I didn't want to use the same batch for both tests. What if my first cup had been contaminated somehow?

Five minutes later, the first plus sign hadn't changed; it had only been joined by a second one.

I wasn't sure that two bags would be enough, but it would have to do. Riley and I couldn't exactly go on the run with an eight-piece luggage ensemble. I pulled some more of her clothes from the closet and smelled them. These weren't too bad. The scent of smoke was there but not overpowering. We could always wash them later. I placed them into her bag, then closed it up and took it downstairs, setting it next to mine. My parents would be angry, but they would understand. I hoped.

My doorbell rang, and I held my breath. What if it was child services again? I had called the police, and they'd sent someone over to document everything and taken a statement, but that was all. No hope of fingerprints. No hope of finding the asswipe who'd done this. What if it was the asswipe outside now, ringing my bell, waiting to finish the job?

I peered out the window, trying to see who it was. All I could make out was a woman's shadow. The woman moved an inch to her right, and the unmistakable figure of Kaitlyn swung into view.

I opened the door, my heart beating hard in my chest. I'd called my parents and asked them to keep Riley for the night, saying I needed some time to sort things out. Kaitlyn and I were alone.

"Kaitlyn!" I said, shocked to see her. The last time we'd seen each other, she'd call me a slurry of names I preferred to forget and said she never wanted to see me again. My heart hammered against my chest as I let her in.

"Hi, Axel," she said. Her voice was a soft, sweet melody in my ears. It's crazy, but I'd actually missed her. Something about her invoked instant calm in me. Maybe it was those legs. She had great legs.

"Is it okay that I'm here?" she asked.

"Yeah, of course. Come on in."

She stepped inside, her eyes wandering, taking things in the way people do when they've arrived somewhere for the first time. "It's nice," she said. "Your home, I mean." She seemed nervous. She kept twitching her thumbs and sticking out her bottom lip. It took all my strength not to go nibble on her right now.

"Coach gave me your address. I hope you don't mind. He thought I should come by and work on your knee."

"Oh." Disappointment crushed me. So that's why she was here. Coach had put her up to it. Of course.

"Well," I said, stepping back. I wobbled on my crutches, trying to look cool. "You can tell Coach that I'm fine."

She smiled and raised an eyebrow. Why did she have to be so darn cute?

  "Bullshit meter, remember?" she said.

I couldn't help but smile. She moved closer, setting her coat on a chair in the hallway. "I didn't come here because of Coach," she said. She was biting her lower lip again, and I longed to know what was going on inside that mind of hers. She w
as the only woman I'd ever met that I couldn't read.

"Oh?" I asked. My breath quickened. "Do you want to sit down?" I asked, suddenly realizing I was being rude. "Want something to drink? I've got some nice Scotch I can crack open." I threw her a wink, but she hardly noticed.

"No, thanks." She shuffled her feet, looking everywhere except at me. "You know, maybe we should sit down. Your leg has gotta be hurting you."

"It's alright," I told her, though in truth the pain had been getting worse for the last hour or so. We were on the couch for about a second before she stood back up and started pacing.

"What is it?" I finally asked. She clearly had something to say. I started to ask her if it was about us but stopped myself. If it wasn't, then I'd look like a fool. "Everything okay with the team?"

Kaitlyn took a deep breath and stopped pacing. "I'm pre—presenting an offer to you from Taylor."

"Taylor?" I asked, my blood immediately boiling. I stood up. Bad leg or no bad leg, I couldn't sit still talking about Taylor.

"She came to see me," Kaitlyn said.

"She what?" Anger swelled up inside me. "How dare she?" I grabbed a pillow off the couch and threw it across the room.

"You were right," Kaitlyn suddenly said. Her words came out so fast I almost couldn't understand them. "Taylor was lying those women were lying they know each other I'm sorry I didn't believe you." Kaitlyn's face was red. She was panting.

"Breathe," I told her. "Just breathe."

She took deep breaths as I placed one hand on her cheek, keeping my balance with my crutches.

"I'm sorry I didn't believe you," she said, tears filling her eyes.

"I'm sorry I was such a dick to you," I told her.

Our eyes locked for a second, and in that moment, I could have sworn I felt her heart beating in sync with mine.

"Taylor wants two million dollars," Kaitlyn said. "Two million, and she'll forget all about Riley." Her eyes searched the room. "Where is Riley, anyway?"

"At my parents." My head was spinning. Two million dollars? That wasn't too much. I could pull that together. Sure. Easy. But what if that wasn't enough? What if Taylor got that and came back for more?

"Axel?" Kaitlyn asked. "Are you alright? You look kind of pale."

"I was just thinking," I told her, then sat back on the couch. She sat next to me. I reached out my hand and absently began stroking her thigh. She didn't seem to mind. "What if she never stops?" I asked. "What if I give her the money, and it only makes things worse?"

"Axel, I don't really see how things could get any worse." She took hold of my hand and brought it to her face. "But you don't have to face it all alone, you know."

Her eyes were deep, blue pools I longed to sink into. "I can't ask you to do that for me," I told her. "But I can't imagine wanting anyone else with me right now more than I want you. I think—"

"Maybe that's the problem," she said, interrupting me. "You think too much." Then Kaitlyn kissed me.

It felt so good to finally have Axel's lips pressed against mine again. I knew it was impossible because we barely knew each other, but I'd missed him this last week. He hadn't shaved, but I relished in the rough edges of his skin as he pressed his cheek against mine.

"You feel so good," Axel whispered.

"I haven't stopped thinking about you," I told him, kicking myself for revealing so much. But Axel only kissed me harder for saying it.

"I'm glad I'm not the only one," he replied.

Unlike his face, his hands were smooth and soft. I had no idea how he could keep them so soft when he used them so much. They were like butter on my body as he moved them against my skin. They paused on my breasts, gently playing with my nipples through my shirt. "Don't tease me," I murmured. "I'm already getting wet."

My words electrified him. Axel lifted his shirt off, and I was once again introduced to the chiseled outline of his form. His rock hard abs were golden and shone like the sun was beating down upon them. He glistened under the soft lights of his house. I had to taste him. My perfect pink tongue ran up and down his skin. I licked him from neck to navel. His body shivered as I tasted every inch of him.

"I wanna be inside you," he said.

"What are you waiting for?" I asked.

My pussy ached as I lay back on the couch. He hovered over me, lifting my shirt off and tossing it aside. I was wearing my black lace bra from that special shop downtown. My pink nubs poked through the lace. Axel's thick, rose-colored tongue reached out and licked them. They shot to attention for him as he teased them, lightly brushing them with his teeth before taking them into his mouth.

I reached down with one hand and touched myself. My pants felt too tight and constricting, and I longed to get them off. Axel pushed my pants to the floor with a swift kick. His pants were still on, though. I could feel his erection through his jeans. My black lace panties were already moist and hot. I wriggled under him, pushing my pelvis against his.

  "Stop teasing me," I murmured.

  "Not yet," he smiled.

He slid one bra strap down and kissed my shoulder. He did the same with my other strap. His mouth sizzled over my skin. He kissed my neck, sending wild shivers up my spine. My pussy tightened as the intensity of our passion grew. "I'm ready for you," I told him.

"I'll tell you when," he said.

Axel reached behind my back and unsnapped my bra. My breasts fell free, and Axel's hands moved over them at a slow pace, feeling every part of me. When he'd had his fill of my tits, he moved further down my body. His hand pushed aside my lace. His fingers found their way to my clit, massaging me with precision. My back arched as he slipped first one, then two fingers inside my opening.

"Oh God," I moaned. He kissed my neck and began to pulse his fingers inside my pussy. My body could only take so much before I exploded. "I'm gonna cum," I told him.

"Good," he whispered. The world exploded around me as Axel's fingers moved faster and faster inside me. "Are you done?" he asked. I nodded, panting, already wanting more. "Good. Now you're ready."

He stripped his pants off and flung my panties aside before delving deep inside me. His erection was massive, and when he slid inside me, I thought I would never know such bliss again. His cock moved deep within me, climbing its way back into my cave. Then he was pulling back out. I could feel the perfect pink tip of his head as it brushed against my hole, hovering over it, teasing me even more. I clutched at his shoulder, desperate for him to enter me.

When he plunged back into my pussy it was like we were exploring a whole new world together. He began to pulse. His cock continued to grow the hotter and wetter I became. Just when I was about to climax again, Axel pulled out.

"Uh-uh," he whispered, kissing me. "I say when, remember?"

I'd never seen this domineering side of him before, and I liked it. I liked to be teased and handled in bed. Axel was the first man I'd been with who instinctively knew that. I grabbed his ass, guiding him deeper inside me as he rocked his hips.

"Harder!" I screamed. His eyes opened and met mine. It was like he was looking into my soul.

  "Faster?" he asked.

  "Oh God, yes!" I cried.

  "Harder?" he teased.

  "Fuck, yes!" I screamed.

  "I'm gonna cum!" he shouted.

Axel's cock swelled inside me, and a fresh explosion of stars sailed across my field of vision. I panted as the explosion hit me all at once. Axel blasted into me. The lights in his apartment all brightened simultaneously, and the air around me grew sweet and heavy. I could feel Axel’s heart thud against his chest. My heart beat with his, and when it was over, I couldn't tell whose was whose anymore.

"God," he whispered. "If this is what it's like when we haven't seen each other for a week, then we oughta try it after a month apart."

I smacked the back of his head with my hand. "Let's not," I said.

He grinned back at me. "The only alternative is to never leave my side." He looked t
houghtfully at me. "I guess there are worse things that could happen."

Mark Devereux's advice was not welcome news. I hung up the phone and turned to Kaitlyn, who was drinking lemonade at my kitchen table. Seeing her again was the only thing keeping me going right now. This afternoon with her had been an unexpected treasure. With her soft skin and her liquid eyes, Kaitlyn had rejuvenated me. I felt alive again for the first time in days.

"What did he say?" Kaitlyn asked. She had a keen sense for knowing when things were wrong. I suspected her "bullshit meter" wasn't just bullshit.

"He says that I should give Taylor the money. Give her anything she wants. He'll draw up some documents and make the whole thing legal."

"But..." Kaitlyn scrunched her face in that adorable way I was coming to know and love. "Isn't what she's doing bribery or extortion or something? How can he make something like that legal?"

I shrugged. "I don't know. That's what I pay Mark for. If he says he can do it, then he can." Still, just because he could do it didn't make it a good idea. "I don't know what to think right now."

Kaitlyn's soft, warm hand reached out and took mine. Our fingers intersected. I let her energy run through me, healing me like medicine. I wondered what Riley would think of her. She barely remembered Taylor. Would she like the idea of having a new mother?

"I'm going to take a shower," I finally said. It was getting late, and for tonight at least, I wanted to wash away all the crap that had happened today and in the last week. With Kaitlyn here, I thought I might be able to do that.

"I guess I should be getting home," she said.

"What? No," I said, a little too quickly. A little too desperately. I didn't want her to go, but I also didn't want her to know how pathetic I was. Football players were supposed to be tough as nails, not soft as cotton. If she knew how much I needed her right now, it might make her run away again.
